Biking Is the Perfect Recreation Sport
Cycling is one of the greatest ways to be physically active while having time to think, meditate, or just “switch off” your brain for a while. This is why many people have taken up the hobby/sport and have bought themselves proper bicycles.
The Dilemma of Recreation
Many forms or recreation focus on physical and mental relaxation. After all, people feel tired from work, their bodies may be all tensed up from sitting in front of a company computer all day, and their brains might be weary from having to solve problems. So when the time comes to rest and enjoy themselves, they want some way to relax their bodies and minds. The problem with this approach to recreation is that it is very unhealthy and does not promote physical fitness. Thus, people have become addicted to TV, movies, video games, even sleeping, and they have let their health slide. Is it any wonder that people seem to be getting fatter and fatter these days?
The Solution
Getting on a bicycle (or as the Danes say Cykler) is one of the best solutions to this sort of recreational dilemna. You see, riding a bicycle may mean physical strain, but this doesn’t mean that physical strain can’t be relaxing. It may seem a little contradictory at first, but if you really think about it, there’s nothing like physical exertion to release stored up tension in your muscles. At the same time, you get to have time to yourself to think about whatever you want.
Taking your bicycle out for a ride around the city can be very refreshing, since you get to see the different parts of it, and you can even try out the various eateries and entertainments that you may unexpectedly come across as you take this unguided, on-wheel tour of urbanity. But if you really want some peace and quiet without being interrupted by pedestrians, cars, or traffic signs, then you’ll want to take your bicycle out to the country, where you can bike for hours without hearing another human voice.
Other Benefits of Biking
In addition to these benefits, there are other things that might attract your to take up cycling. These are:
- Cardiovascular care: “Cardio” exercises like cycling stress out your heart in all the right ways, improving blood circulation and the health of the most important muscle in your body: your heart.
- Eco-friendliness: Riding a bicycle is a very eco-friendly way to travel, since you don’t consume any kind of fossil fuel, and don’t release and carbon emissions into the atmosphere. Bikes are also relatively low-maintenance, which means that you won’t be consuming a lot of resources just to keep your gear up and running.
- Better mobility: Having a bike can increase the speed at which you travel. It can also drastically increase the range at which you are willing to travel without commuting, taking a cab, or driving a car. If you want to go to the park everyday and it happens to be several blocks away, you won’t have to worry too much about travel time if you have a good bike with you.
